About

Canadian Geographic Education’s vibrant and colourful Giant Floor Maps are unlike any other educational resource in the country. TIFA is proud to present the Indigenous Peoples Atlas Giant Floor Map, which offers children – and participants of all ages – an opportunity to discover and explore the diverse aspects of geography in a unique and interactive way.

From September 30 – October 1, 2023 at Harbourfront Centre, you can explore the map and learn more about the locations of Indigenous communities, residential schools, reserves and more. Rather than showing political borders, Canada is broken up into Indigenous language groups, offering audiences a unique perspective into the geography, history and culture of our country. Don’t forget to stop by on Saturday, September 30 when you’ll meet authors Jaypeetee Arnakak and Ceporah Mearns. Throughout the day, they’ll be sharing their new stories, The Woman and Her Bear Cub & It’s Time for Berries!, two beautifully illustrated tales of tradition, family, friendship and Nunavut life. Organizer

Toronto International Festival of Authors

The Toronto International Festival of Authors (TIFA) inspires and connects through the art of stories, offering book lovers a breadth of bold, ambitious and accessible literary experiences. As Canada’s largest literary festival, the charitable organization provides engaging opportunities to meet, hear and learn from the world’s best authors and artists across the range of literary genres, and to celebrate the power of stories.

For over 40 years, TIFA has presented an annual 11-day festival celebration, bringing together readers and writers from all over the globe to Harbourfront Centre every fall, to explore and celebrate the joy of stories. TIFA also offers year-round events, activities and mini-festivals.
