About

The Community Presents series is a new initiative from the Brampton Arts Organization (BAO) that facilitates learning and knowledge-sharing within the Brampton creative community while developing individual community members' facilitation skills. To that end, we've empowered Brampton artists and creatives to craft programming and initiatives specifically for their community.

This workshop will help you plan out your comic or graphic novel from idea to final artwork. We’ll look at different ways of fleshing out ideas, writing a script, creating designs, and finally, panelling out a full page of comic art to enhance the story.

We will also discuss, from an author/writer perspective, how to find and approach an artist/illustrator to work with on your independent comic/graphic novel.

What You'll Learn:

How to flesh out your ideas into a well-rounded story

How to build your world

How to develop character references for yourself or for an artist/illustrator

How to create panels that enhance the story's impact

What to expect if you’re reaching out to an artist/illustrator for hire to work on your graphic novel

Whether you're a writer or visual artist, or both, this is great opportunity for the curious to learn the ins and outs of comic art.

Accessibility: If you require assistance or support to participate, please get in touch with us at [email protected] as soon as possible (minimum of three days in advance) so that we can make the necessary accommodations.
