About
Captain Francis J. Brown lived during the later half of the 1800's. During his life he visited England, Canada, Africa and Japan. He drifted in and out of many historical events during his life including oil discoveries, missionary work and a Japanese restoration. He was a railway surveyor, oil well investor, and an importer but mainly he was a master mariner. So join us as we share his very interesting story.

Throughout the year, our promotional efforts include hosting various family activities and events that promote Oakville's heritage and get the public involved in learning about the town and what we do.
