About

Joanne Salé is an artist in residence at the Caetani House for the

month of September. In this demo Joanne will be pulling prints from a

lino block that she carved this year. It is one of a series of four

prints in a new body of work collectively titled Dark Water. The

series was started during her stay at the Kasahara Gabriola Trust

artist residency, where Joanne got to spend a lot of time staring out

at the Salish Sea. She will have all the blocks and an example of the

print pulled from each on view at the demo. You’ll see Joanne doing

things like inking the block, setting the block and paper into the

press, the actual printing, and the exciting moment of pulling the

print off the block.

Final copies of the prints will be in an exhibition at Lake Country

Art Gallery, opening on October 1st.

Joanne earned her BFA from UBC-Okanagan in 2005, where she worked in

sculpture, drawing, etching, and painting. Joanne has had solo

exhibitions and been included in group exhibitions throughout BC. She

has completed numerous artist residencies.

Registration is not required but space is limited so we do suggest

booking a spot.
