About
Join Rubia Darya Gallery as we celebrate Winnipeg's 2025 Nuit Blanche with an exhibition of antique and vintage hand-woven rugs and textiles that feature the Gul (flower) motif. For centuries, weavers from diverse nomadic groups in western and central Asia have incorporated Guls'(flower patterns) into their textile designs, either as a featured or as a secondary motif.
This is a hands-on exhibition showcasing different styles of Gul(flower), each a tribal emblem representing the tribe, a unique and distinctive pattern often repeated over the field of the rug.

Rubia Darya is a rug gallery in the E. Exchange that offers artistically inspired and woven wool rugs and textiles that were made by women in tribal families in central and west Asia. They were created for their own family's purposes, passing the tradition of rug weaving through generations. Our collection of tribal rugs was woven with a unique design and colors ranging from newer to 140 years old.
Our gallery shares and promotes the appreciation of the art and history of these one-of-a-kind rugs, as well as the skillful women who wove them, by hosting seminar and film events free of charge throughout the year.
