About

Over two decades ago, non-toxic watercolour printmaking was invented at Joshua Creek Heritage Art Centre in Oakville, Ontario, Canada. Now it is our signature art class. Whether you are a seasoned artist or wanting to learn something new, you will discover the art of learning through play. No previous art experience is required.

Artists invent, explore and experiment with wet colour that floats on a rigid surface. Rolling the printing plate through an etching press and printing the image is only the beginning. Mixed media and collage increase the artwork's versatility. The ensuing masterpiece evolves and becomes a treasured work of art to take home. The results are surprising, satisfying and rewarding!

Sybil calls herself a “visual sponge” and a product of seven generations of artists. A celebration of art is at the core of Joshua Creek Heritage Art Centre. “Art is about looking and appreciating,” she says. She is sharing her love of art through the gallery exhibitions and art classes, and she helps emerging artists of all kinds to express themselves through education and nurtures their confidence through exhibitions.

Joshua Creek Heritage Art Centre

Joshua Creek Heritage Art Centre is an Oakville barn gallery and 1827 house and studio, situated on a 12-acre, 20,000-year old valley. It is a cheerful and welcoming sanctuary from urban life, where those who love art and nature come together to create, learn and grow.

For 50 years, owner and founder Sybil Rampen has had a vision. Her lifelong goal was to establish a cultural legacy on her family farm to inspire the future generations of Halton.

Joshua Creek Heritage Art Centre is a place to discover. The barn gallery hosts unique exhibitions by well-known and emerging artists. It is a place for intimate weddings, celebrations, workshops, drum circles, dance classes, concerts, meetings, retreats and walks in the beautiful labyrinth.
