W❤️acking originated in the 1970s Los Angeles disco scene, created by LGBTQ+ dancers as a form of self-expression. Influenced by Hollywood glamour, w❤️acking features sharp arm movements, posing, and musicality. It became a powerful dance style celebrating individuality, freedom, and the community’s resilience, eventually gaining global recognition in street dance culture.

Come ready to dance, learn, and connect at a night that promises to be truly one-of-a-kind!

Organizer

Richmond W❤️acking Community

The Richmond W❤️acking Community was founded by local street w❤️acking dancers in Richmond to unite enthusiasts of the dance style. Our goal is to create a supportive and inclusive environment where dancers can connect, share their passion, and grow their skills. Through cyphers, battles, and performances, we celebrate and advance the art of waacking, fostering a vibrant and collaborative dance culture.

1. To embrace and promote the essence of waacking and other street dance cultures.

2. To foster an environment of support, encouragement, and applause for fellow dancers.

3. To provide opportunities for people of all backgrounds to connect, learn, and grow through dance.

4. To create a safe and inclusive space primarily for LGBTQ+, BIPOC, and newcomer communities, empowering them through creative expression and community engagement.
