About
The Book Spine Poetry Contest is an annual contest run by the Saskatchewan Library Association and hosted each fall, overlapping with Culture Days. This year’s contest runs from September 19 – October 12, 2025.
What is book spine poetry? In book spine poetry, a poem is created by stacking books on top of each other, with each title on the spine of a book making up a line in the poem.
The contest features four age categories: children (ages 5 to 8), children (ages 9 to 12), teens (ages 13 to 18), and adults (ages 19 and up). The winner in each age category receives a $100 McNally Robinson gift card, the runner-up receives a $50 gift card, and third place a $25 gift card. This contest is open to Saskatchewan residents only.
For more information on this program, please email SLA Program Coordinator Milena Džordeski at [email protected].
