Organizer

Tero Parbon Cultural Association

Tero Parbon Cultural Association (TPCA) is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving and promoting Bengali culture in Regina. Our organization has been active in the community since 2010, and we have accomplished a great deal with the support from various patrons of the community. We registered as a non-profit organization in 2014.

Our mission is to celebrate and share the rich cultural heritage of Bengal (India and Bangladesh) through various events, and festivities. We believe that preserving our cultural traditions plays an integral part in building a stronger, more inclusive community, and we work hard to ensure that Bengali culture is represented and celebrated in Regina.

As an organization dedicated to promoting cultural diversity and harmony in Regina, we feel that our event(s), mission and vision align with the cultural retention and celebration of diversity purpose of SaskCulture. Our programs and events have a primary focus on Bengali culture, its heritage and the retention of its literary excellence. We promote, encourage, and integrate diverse multicultural and multi-generational participation. We strive to engage new generations and expose them to our rich heritage. Our members and volunteers are primarily first-generation immigrants, and the emphasis of our events is on creating strong roots and keeping our rich cultural heritage alive. One of the pillars of TPCA’s objective is to engage and spread knowledge and culture to our community. Our events strive to provide networking opportunities for newcomers to connect with members of our local community. This is seen through the multiple volunteer opportunities we provide for newcomers to get involved in the event(s) and organization. These opportunities provide valuable experience and skills and allow one to feel more connected to the community. Our event also provides a platform for amateur artists to showcase their unique talents and even go on to perform to wider audience. We saw this through our inter-generational dance group who performed their classical Indian dance at the Dragonboat festival in Regina.

We plan to host a series of cultural performances, including music and dance from various Bengali artists, and provide attendees with the opportunity to learn about Bengali culture through food, art, and interactive exhibits. We also plan to have information booths set up for community organizations that promote diversity and multiculturalism, creating networking opportunities for newcomers and building bridges of understanding with other cultural groups.
