About

Welcome to the greenest room you never asked for.

This installation is a carefully chaotic landscape of secondhand domestic objects — thrift-store finds, curbside cast offs, forgotten gadgets and one suspiciously oversized pepper. Selected and united by their green hue, these everyday items are at once familiar and strange, nostalgic and absurd. Green is a colour steeped in contradictions. It evokes nature, renewal, and peace… yet also greed, envy, sickness, and the fluorescent glare of consumer culture. Its origins trace back to the Old English grene, meaning “to grow.” But what does green grow into in an age of overconsumption and waste?

A Sea of Green explores what happens when meaning is drowned in material. In this dense, saturated space, green loses its serenity and becomes almost nauseating. What once symbolised life, now vomits excess.

In the act of searching for green objects, the artist is also searching for ways to consume responsibly, yet still ends up overwhelmed by the sheer abundance of stuff. And beyond the installation, this raises a larger question: In our daily lives, how do we navigate the endless flood of green — green products, green deals, green innovations — when all tangled in the empty rhetoric of greenwashing?

Every object here was once wanted, purchased, gifted, used, then eventually discarded. Their afterlives, assembled into this absurd monochrome mass, reveal the strange poetry of consumer cycles: what we value, what we let go of, and what we forget we ever owned.

This installation reflects on how we live, what we accumulate, what we choose to leave behind, and ultimately what it means to be green.

Oh and please don’t try to take anything home. We already have too much stuff!
