About

Explore embodied art-making and connect to the creative world of Ballet BC through this free expressive arts workshop led by the company’s Manager of Outreach and Engagement Heather Myers. A gently guided warm-up will lead to somatic movement prompts, pastel drawing, writing, sharing and discussion, all centred on the theme of reconception.

This fall, Ballet BC artists will renew well known dance works for the company’s tour to the National Arts Centre, and visiting choreographers will recreate existing pieces for our DAWN program at Vancouver's Queen Elizabeth Theatre. Aligning with this upcoming programming and the language of the arts, this Creative Immersion workshop invites you to reconceive the familiar in your own life. By moving with specific intention, participants will explore the poetic potential of everyday movements with awareness, allowing new perceptions to emerge. Drawing and writing realize the wisdom of the body, and space is made for the unique experience and interpretation of every person. All are welcome, no experience necessary! For participants aged 18-99.

Please wear comfortable clothing, and bring a water bottle and/or journal if desired. Outdoor shoes may not be worn in the studio. No latecomers will be permitted.
