About
"A mid-way point: the present is an infinite moment" is a new 80' ft. x 20' ft. mural commissioned by the Richmond Public Art Program in partnership with the Thompson Community Association. The artists, Dawn Lo and April dela Noche Milne created the mural with input from multigenerational and culturally diverse members of the Thompson community. Through a series of artist-led participatory engagements, including zine-making, social media campaigns and handmade artistic postcards, community members expressed what was important to them in making the Thompson Community Centre and surrounding neighbourhood their home and a place where they want be. The mural depicts the community centre's ever-bustling nature. A safe place for connection where individuals from a diversity of cultures and backgrounds can come together to form long-lasting friendships and relationships while engaging in their favourite activities and programs.
The artists were grateful to have the opportunity to complete the mural in the summer of 2020 and wish to thank everyone who participated in project. They hope participants and the larger Richmond community will take a moment to visit the mural and visually experience the liveliness, strength and resilience of the Thompson neighbourhood.
The Thompson Community Centre features an outdoor park with playgrounds, skate park, sports fields and basketball courts. A perfect place to spend an afternoon with the family.
