Open Studio and Exhibition "Will Caribou Cross Pipelines?"Whitehorse, Territoire du Yukon
Arts visuels — Coup d’œil en coulisse
OPEN STUDIO and Exhibition/Sale of new work by Joyce Majiski.
You are invited to view a new selection of work! These paintings are a tribute to the migratory Porcupine caribou herd in the north Yukon. This herd migrates to the Alaska National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR) each year to calve before returning to the Yukon. Their calving grounds, as sensitive as any nursery, are being threatened by oil development. Exploration is slated for this winter, opening the door to irreparable damage on the north slope, potentially destroying the fragile balance for all arctic wildlife.
Artist made postcards will be provided for you to send a message to the American Senators and Canadian politicians who are supporting a Pipeline Free ANWR.

I’ve been a printmaker and papermaker since 1986~when I took my first courses in Mexico. Since then I have travelled world wide to attend residencies, work collaboratively with other artists and exhibit my work. My art is influenced by past careers as a biologist and wilderness guide and often examines our connection to place and global environmental concerns. I've lived in the Yukon since 1984.
