Please join us for Urban Shaman’s second year hosting a pop-up, out-door, non-competitive, family-friendly pow-wow located in the heart of Winnipeg. The body of Indigenous regalia and dance encompasses a rich tradition of kinship and spirituality. Bring the family down to our mini, one day, non-competitive, urban pow-wow trail presented by Urban Shaman Gallery in partnership with the Wall-to-Wall Festival and Sākihiwē Festival.

CALL TO DANCERS WHO JUST WANT TO HAVE FUN!

Dancers we want you to come out and show your stuff!!! A performance of 45 minutes (thus the pop up aspect of the event) of non-competitive dance, we hope the pow wow community understands this is a kind of Friendship Dance event and to bring the spirit of unity and fun to the gathering. All welcome!

Musicians Bios:

Sons of the Drum is a traditional drum group formed in 2014, from Roseau River that have performed all over the continent, from Toronto to Albuquerque. Members of the collective are Bill Atkinson, Darcy Wayne Henry, Frank Daniels Junior, Garrett Ryan Henry, Jordan Starr, Jordan Seenie, Matt Mousseau, Nina Assiniboine Francis-Henry, Tyson Keith Henry, and Travis Henry. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cQK7x8K6d80

Boogey The Beat is an Anishinaabe DJ and Producer from Winnipeg, Canada who blends traditional Indigenous songs with modern electronic beats. His DJing skills have landed him on stages for the Indspire Awards, Canada Day 150 Main Stage in Ottawa, National Aboriginal Day LIVE presented by APTN, and multiple festivals across Turtle Island. https://soundcloud.com/boogeythebeat
