About

(Not accessible to the general public.)

Walk’n’Roll is an in-house art hunt for the patients and staff of Saint-Vincent Hospital, Ottawa’s only Continuing Complex Care hospital.

Artists or arts organizations arrange art tours, studio tours, or artist Open House events every year. These are common cultural activities that introduce the general public to new art or new-to-them art. Our Walk’n’Roll gives access to Saint-Vincent patients who cannot access physical studios, galleries or museums and celebrates the art in their midst.

There are hundreds of pieces of art at Saint-Vincent - prints, paintings, sculptures, murals, and tapestries, scattered throughout the five floors of the facility. Many patients and staff only know of the works that are on their unit. What other art exists in the building? What stories are told?

From this large collection, 20 pieces have been curated by Bruyère’s Artist-in-Residence into an art hunt for patients and staff. Patients can hunt for these chosen art pieces under their own power or supported by Unit Support Workers. (All while respecting the latest Saint-Vincent Covid-19 rules.)

The hunt is accompanied by a set of reflection questions.
