Explore the personal magic of Daily Doodling with Kelowna General Hospital Creative Wellness coaches Susan LeBlanc and Karen Close.

Artist Daphne Odjig (1919-2016) found her journey’s end enjoying the process of creating "Daphne Doodles" - creations out of her mind and heart. Enjoy a presentation of Daphne Doodles then pick up a pencil and relax into making your own doodle. Feel the character in you emerge. Feel the artist’s advice:

“There are no mistakes you know. Just go with what happens... Some part of us always remains free to respond to the here and now with originality”.

Bring along your inner child and be ready to relax into 'art play'. All supplies provided.

Organizer

Karen Close, Creative Wellness Coach, editor Sage-ing With Creative Spirit, Grace and Gratitude

Karen Close, is editor of the online journal Sage-ing With Creative Spirit, Grace and Gratitude sageing.ca.

Issue 30 and the article CELEBRATING DAPHNE ODJIG: ART AS MEDICINE will go online September 2019. Karen visited with Daphne and photographed her daily doodles from 2014 to 2016.

Daphne Odjig died during Culture Days 2016. Had she lived she would have been 100 years old, September 11th, 2019, and eager to contribute to the 10 year celebration of this year’s Culture Days. As important a voice as Daphne was for Aboriginal artists during her prodigious career, during her final years making "Daphne Doodles" she modelled how making art can be medicine for all of us at any age.
