Go on A Date with Culture and enjoy a variety of live events, demonstrations, food, and the best of local artists!

An array of local artists will be sharing demonstrations of their craft with visitors, surrounded by music, food, and a great cultural atmosphere on the iconic Granville Island.

A Date with Culture includes a large-scale printmaking event – Steamroller print, where artists and printmakers will team up to celebrate the art of woodcut printing using a steamroller as a press. The artists will carve blocks, and the works will be printed in small editions in a public performance atmosphere. The resulting suite of unique 4’ X 8’ woodprints on cloth and on paper will be displayed on‐site, as they come off the press.

Community members and visitors will have the opportunity to contribute to the carving of one print panel, designed by a local artist, over the course of the weekend, as well as join in on demonstrations and hands-on workshops with local artists and island vendors.

Craft Council of BC

Craft Council of British Columbia’s is a charitable arts service organization which supports all stages of artistic practice in the craft sector; creates opportunities for artists to exhibit, sell and produce art; provides a voice for artists and craft organizations and aids in the development of active communities around craft.

As a membership-based organization, CCBC welcomes all those who are interested in or curious about craft. Many individuals and institutions belong to CCBC – artists, teachers, scholars, collectors, gallery owners and professionals in related fields in British Columbia. This diversity is well represented in CCBC’s governance through its Board of Directors, which is elected annually by the members.
