About
The most fascinating stories are not those we find in books and movies but the ones we live. From a young age, we create a personal mythology to help us understand who we are, accept the way we feel, and figure out the people around us. Our stories become our most personal possession. They are a key to our identity.
Many authors begin their careers by taking stories from memory and transforming them into works of art. This workshop will show you how to become more aware of the stories that are happening all around you so that you can use them in your own writing, whether it is fiction, poetry, drama, or essays.

Gene Bodzin
Gene Bodzin (Ph.D., American Studies, University of Wisconsin) has taught English at Lakehead University, and written and edited texts for federal government departments and as a freelancer. He has contributed to several style manuals, including The Canadian Style, and published Making Your Life into a Work of Art: The Techniques of Memoir Writing, based on years of observation, writing, and teaching. He has written a lengthy memoir, gives workshops on memoir writing, and has contributed to several web sites on memory and autobiographical writing.
