About

Surrey Civic Theatres, along with the City of Surrey's Arts & Heritage Services, are heading to Guildford Town Centre again this year, and invite you to enjoy and join in on free performances - all in Centre Court (in the middle of the mall, just outside the Hudson's Bay store).

Surrey Civic Theatres is excited to share sneak peeks from our upcoming 2019/2020 season of talented artists, as well as some of the up-and-coming Surrey musical talent fresh from our 6th Annual Band-Aid: Youth Musician Development Workshop!

Performances will take place from 1—5pm, including:

1) Sharanjeet Singh Mand and Michael Averill - Sitar Guitar Collaboration. This collaboration is an attempt to break barriers and connect different ends of this world through music. Apart from playing their original compositions, they will also present a little talk about their music and collaboration. The performance will include a song where the audience can sing back.

2) Come Dancing Around the World - experience a hint of what our Salsa Night in Surrey concert and dance will be like with a Salsa dance lesson and live accompaniment by a Conga player.

3) Sneak peek of Axis Theatre Company's “Th'owxiya: The Hungry Feast Dish” By Joseph A. Dandurand. Indigenous storytellers spin a tale from the Kwantlen First Nations Village of Squa’lets, about Th’owxiya, an old and powerful spirit that inhabits a feast dish. When Th’owxiya catches a hungry mouse, Kw'atel, stealing a piece of cheese, Kw’atel must search for a way to appease the goddess, and the journey becomes one of knowledge, understanding and forgiveness. Suitable for all ages.

4) Four lucky musicians from our 6th Annual Band-Aid: Youth Musician Development Workshop will be selected to perform their own original music for the community where they’ll showcase their amazing talent and skill!
