About

Improvisation can be a valuable tool to anyone who is interested in embodiment as a practice, especially when a group can share a space of free-play movement. Improvisational work has the potential to activate connections between an analytical brain and an instinctual, muscular body, and something that could resonate with all participants in their own individual experience. Through a specific way of working, one can achieve a specific quality of movement without an imposed expectation of aesthetics or physical ability.

As a professional dance artist, Isak Enquist has been developing an improvisational practice to facilitate various aspects of his work, specifically the transfer or transposition between people of various movement histories and backgrounds. Isak is researching the possibilities of dance in alternative contexts, searching for how it may be accessible and beneficial to any body.

This workshop is designed to be inclusive to a wide range of individuals, ranging in age and physical ability; this work can be a beneficial and informative journey for any body. Every improvisational experiment is inherently different, through all kinds of factors that are brought into the space, therefore every workshop will provide a different experience for those attending, and therefore the feedback and discussions that could arise from this workshop are always encouraged and welcomed.
