Brenda Taylor Designs-Knitting & Embroidery

Brenda designs and makes luxury knitted women's hats and scarves, knitted, felted and embroidered berets, and embroidered wall art. She uses natural fibres such as silk, alpaca, merino wool, kid mohair and qiviut.

Today Brenda's inspirations come from beautiful natural fibre yarns, from the natural environment in the places she has lived, and from a wealth of international embroidery and knitting traditions. She studied haute couture and hat-making in Ottawa in the mid-1990s, taking several millinery courses taught by Eva Ferguson at Richard Robinson's Academy of Fashion Design. Brenda has always worked primarily with natural fibres and vintage beads and buttons. Her growing understanding of the environmental impacts of the fibre & textile industries is leading her towards using more repurposed/reclaimed fabrics and naturally-dyed yarns in her work.
