How to Use the Bright Spots Schedule

The Bright Spots Schedule, presented by National Partner Sun Life Financial, through their Making the Arts More Accessible™ program, is a free, online scheduling tool that allows members of the public to create a personalized schedule of events taking place in their community over the Culture Days weekend.

The Bright Spots Schedule is also a great tool for events and community organizers to publicize their events by creating a printed or online program guide that helps the public plan their weekend in advance.

This tip sheet explains how event and community organizers can use the Bright Spots Schedule as an additional promotional tool to help publicize their events.

Creating Your Schedules

The Culture Days Bright Spots Schedule is easy to use! Once you create and login into your “My Culture Days” account on, simply click on the “My Schedule” tab on the right and then on the “Create a Culture Days Schedule” button. Click on “edit” to give your schedule a name and description and then click on “Add.” For every subsequent schedule you would like to create, just click on the “Add A New Schedule” button. You can toggle between schedules by selecting the schedule you would like to view in the drop-down menu.

Adding Events

Adding events is just as easy as creating an account! Once you have logged into your “My Culture Days” portal, browse registered events and select those you wish to add to your schedule by using the green “Add to my Bright Spots Schedule” button (located on the middle-right of each event description page). Pick the date and time (if the event is occurring more than once) and which schedule you would like to add it to if you have more than one. Once successfully added, a confirmation message will be displayed: a green button will appear below the yellow one and will read “Added to schedule.” The events you have decided to add to your schedule will automatically appear in your customized three-day schedule.

Viewing Your Schedules

To view your schedules, simply go to your “My Culture Days” portal and click on the “My Schedule” tab on the right. Pick the appropriate schedule from the drop-down menu on the right.

Removing an Event

Deleting an event from your Bright Spots Schedule is easy. Simply click on the trash icon to the right of the event you would like to delete. A message window will pop up asking you to confirm that you want to remove the event; click the “Remove” button and you’re done!

Exporting and Printing Your Schedule

You can export your customized schedule in a number of ways: by email, to popular calendar platforms like Outlook, iCal, or Google, and as a printable PDF document. For organizers who want to create a program booklet, choose the “Print My Schedule” option where you can include an accompanying cover and customized title.

Sharing Your Schedule

Spread the word by sharing your schedule on your website, blog or by email. Simply click on the “Share” link in the Bright Spots Schedule dashboard and copy/paste the URL provided in the pop-up window. The link is unique to your schedule – any changes you make to your schedule will be reflected wherever you have embedded it.

N.B.: To view your schedule in its sharable and public version, remember to log out of the “My Culture Days” portal first.
