Théâtre la Seizième invites you to an open rehearsal at Studio 16 for their latest creation!

Octobre 11th to 21st, we are proud to present 'Michel(le)' by Joey Lespérance, directed by Esther Duquette.

Join us on Octobre 10th and discover a behind the scenes look at how we create a new show. Participate in an open rehearsal and see how the production team puts the finishing touches one day before opening night. Observe the work of the actor, the director, the designers and the technical team. Take advantage of this open rehearsal to ask questions and find out more about the process of putting on professional theatre.

Story of the play:

As children, Joey, and Michel love to perform in shows they put on for their family and friends. It's difficult, otherwise, to express their true selves in the working-class Quebec of the 1960s and 1970s, where they grow up. To break free and survive, the two brothers will each follow their own path. One will become an actor in Vancouver, the other will shine on the Montreal drag scene before becoming the woman she always felt she was meant to be. But can one truly flourish when their identity tragically clashes with the roles society imposes upon them?

Inspired by real-life events, this first solo performance by Joey Lespérance paints a contrasted portrait of a marginal, courageous, and tumultuous journey. By giving life to the lost dream of his sibling Michel(le), this unique and vibrant expression of love from the Vancouver-based artist perpetuates the memory of unique destinies that are all too often forgotten
