Physical activity & movement

Mocean is pleased to present two sessions of PLAY with Jacinte Armstrong. These workshops invite audiences and artists to share space and time, to make something together while exploring what it might feel like to "think through movement". We will play with objects and materials using guided improvisational exercises and simple games, and hopefully discover the performance hidden in everyday movements. Participants are invited to move at their own pace and ability, while moving in community with others. October 14th from 1:00 - 4:00 pm at the Halifax Central Library (5440 Spring Garden Road) 2 sessions: 1-2:15pm and 2:30-3:45pm. Each session will explore the same process. Participants can attend either session, or stay for both if they would like. Registration is encouraged, however drop-ins are also welcome.

Mocean Dance is recognized nationally as a leading contemporary dance company from the Atlantic region. We provide fertile ground for artistic endeavours and potential in the field of dance. We share perspectives from our region and create opportunities to engage the local arts ecology and connect to the national performing arts community. Through our work, we aim to support Halifax as a hotspot for creation, research, experimentation, collaboration, and performance, as well as nurturing community vitality through education and outreach programs that celebrate dance as a vehicle for transformation. Our activities range from professional opportunities for local artists to community based classes for youth and senior citizens.
