Strange BeatsCommons Studio Kitchener, Ontario
Visual Arts, Film or Video — Collective Creation, Hands-On Activity
Joining in with other creatives at the Open House at the Commons Studio in Kitchener we are bringing in the STRANGE BIRDS to help with setting up a new sort of beat. The Strange Birds are characters that have been made with others in a technique that I have developed over the years. It uses vintage fabric, natural objects and beeswax to sculpt their personalities. We will be making a collage with random pieces of broken things. A stop motion video from pictures of weach persons thoughtful arrangement of the pieces capturing the story that builds upon itself about the courage it takes to set your own beat and see how it fits into a collective visual beat.

256 King St E,
It is vital to follow the beat of our own drum. In a world that likes to set a beat, a laugh track, a tone, sometimes that inner drum is hard to hear. I like to bring that out through interactive public art and story telling. I work in alternative mediums. Recent mural at Philadelphia Reading Terminal Market called Barriers Can Be Broken was made with fabrics of the world.
