Jingle Dress Dancers & Drumming
Art Gallery of Algoma Sault Ste. Marie, OntarioDance, Music — Other
A performance by Jingle dress dancers & drumming will be presented at the Art Gallery of Algoma. Join us to experience the visual and spiritual beauty. The Jingle dress dancers are healing to people. The history of the regalia is a man got as vision when his daughter became ill. He made the dress and had her wear it and dance. This in turn healed her of her sickness and this is why it is significant to the Native culture. The cones on the dress are made from tobacco –Snuff Lids.
The drum is what we represent as the Heartbeat of Mother Earth. Every drum has their own voice/sound.
