LE RENDEZ-VOUZ by Rodney LaTourelle and Louise Witthöft

South Point Park Winnipeg, Manitoba

Architecture, Design — Other

LE RENDEZ-VOUZ is a multi-coloured geometric structure that performs double duty: the work functions both as sculptural intervention and as a space for visitors to sit, read, contemplate the surroundings and enjoy impromptu gatherings or performances. The work uses context, scale, colour and pattern to transform the perception of the “amphitheater”; a common architectural typology found along Winnipeg’s riverbanks.
Cool Gardens is a public exhibition of contemporary garden and art installations offering a shift of sensation for the summer—cooling—as a general theme for public projects in the downtown, bringing architects, designers, landscape architects, and artists together to celebrate contemporary garden culture and the local landscape.
