Capoeira (kah-poe-air-ah) is a martial art that combines the excitement and energy of music, dancing, fighting, acrobatics, feats of strength and flexibility. Capoeira is a 400-year old Brazilian martial art born out of oppression and slavery whereby slaves had to disguise their training as recreational song and dance. Capoeira has played an important part in shaping the culture of Brazil.

Our event will be at Brampton Library, South Fletcher's Branch from 3:30pm to 4:30pm. We will be talking briefly about the history of Capoeira, how it has evolved and why it's for everyone. We will also demonstrate the practice of the martial art.
