Dance — Collective Creation
Culture Days @ the Library is a city-wide celebration of arts and culture taking place at various Brampton Public Library branches.
The Dance Team will be preforming a semi-classical Indian dance. This performance fuses together traditional Kathak movements with the contemporary Bollywood dance style.
Kathak originated in Northern India and is one of the ten major forms of Indian classical dance. In ancient times this dance form was used to tell stories from the great epics and ancient mythology. The Kathak dance form emphasizes rhythmic foot movement which are harmonized to the music. Traditionally, dancers wear ankle bells known as ghunroos to further highlight and accent the melody of the music.
