Dance — Collective Creation
Today our dance team will be preforming a semi-classical Indian dance. This item fuses together traditional Kathak movements with the contemporary Bollywood dance style. Kathak originated in northern India and is one of the ten major forms of Indian classical dance. In ancient times this dance form was use to tell stories about the great epics and ancient mythology. The Kathak dance form emphasizes rhythmic foot movement which are harmonized to the music. Traditionally, dancers wear ankle bells known as ghunroos to further highlight and accent the melody of the music.
