Earth's Treasures, Working with Stones & SilverRichmond, British Columbia
Crafts — Hands-On Activity
Searching for Earth's hidden treasures excites us all. Finding Jade on the Fraser River, Thundereggs north of Cache Creek, or Fire Opal near Vernon is great, but what do you do with it? Learn how to cut rock and then trim and polish it into beautiful cabochons. Learn how to encase the cabochon with Silver to make eye catching pendants and rings. You can also test our members rock and mineral knowledge by having us identify your find.

Richmond Gem and Mineral Society
Richmond Gem and Mineral Society (RGMS) is a nonprofit family-oriented club formed to encourage the hobby of rock and mineral collecting, the lapidary arts (polishing of stones) , and silversmithing. We have organized field trips and train members on how to polish rock, organize a rock or mineral collection, and make jewellery using silversmithing techniques or lost wax casting techniques. We hold monthly regular meetings consisting of business portion, a program, a show & tell, and social interaction.
