In the spirit of reconciliation, it is important to promote the sharing of cultures and cultural practices. CUMFI, believes that this event can foster appreciation and support of the Metis artistic and cultural life. It also, promotes direct interaction between Metis Culture and the non-Metis public to increasing understanding and appreciation of Metis art and culture. It is a grass roots, Metis citizen focused event aimed at raising public participation, awareness and engagement in Metis arts, culture and history. This event allows for the sharing of the beauty of the Metis People and richness of culture. Education is key to promoting understanding, tolerance and friendship.

CUMFI provides vital supports for the disenfranchised and vulnerable populations while also providing affordable living for those in need. CUMFI’s focus has always been and continues to be on women, children and families. Additionally, CUMFI provides cultural guidance and supports to a plethora of organizations and businesses in the community.Its partnerships with both the Catholic and Public- School boards are integral in the teaching and learning of Metis and First Nation Culture and history.
