"The Parade" Artist Talk with Carolyn MeiliGuelph, Ontario
Visual Arts, Heritage — Talks and Discussion, Behind-the-scenes
Carolyn Meili is the City of Guelph's 2017 Artist in Residence.
With the help of Guelph’s residents, Carolyn has gathered a visual language of symbols over the course of her residency that represents our community. These symbols have informed the design and construction of wearable sculptures that will be fashioned into an art exhibition, organized in a static, frozen-in-time parade, inside City Hall over Culture Days weekend.
Carolyn will host an Artist Talk about her process, the community's role in the project, the outcome of her sculptures and what's coming next in her career.
Join us for this culminating celebration of her residency.

City of Guelph
Guelph artist Carolyn Meili is the City of Guelph's 2017 Artist in Residence. In its fourth year, the Artist in Residence program engages the community in creative experiences and embeds artistic activity in a variety of public spaces. In a public call for entry earlier this year, artists were invited to submit proposals that considered Canada’s 150th birthday and the City’s 190th anniversary while encouraging reflection of Guelph’s collective history in a unifying way.
