Saturday Swing Dance at Ted Motyka Dance StudioWinnipeg, Manitoba
Dance — Hands-On Activity, Hands-On Activity
Here's your chance to learn how to move your body and feet to the big band sounds of the swing era! The music and dance evolved in the Harlems of New York starting in the 1920's and is characterized by its great energy and bouncing rhythms. There's no pretense to looking suave or sexy, just come out and feel free to be silly and expressive.
Beginner lesson at 8pm, music at 9pm. No experience or partner necessary.
Please bring a pair of clean non-marking indoor shoes (preferably no heel, low grip) or you can dance in socks. A water bottle and small towel are also recommended.
This activity is in English.
This activity is not wheelchair accessible.

460 Main St
At the corner of Main/McDermot. The entrance to the studio is NOT on Main, it is actually located behind the parking lot on McDermot. Look for the pink door and window behind the fences. Alternatively, come down the alleyway off Albert St (between Shawarma Khan and Across the Board)
Many years ago through a strange combination of video games and a limbo contest, I discovered a love for the music and dance of the 1920's, 30's and 40's; the swing era! These days, I run weekly swing dance lessons and events at Ted Motyka Dance Studio in the Exchange. More info at: swingout.ca
