Culture Days is about creating an inclusive environment that provides the public with an opportunity to take part in arts, heritage and culture related activities in their community. Lori Knorr, one of our BC ambassadors, has always been interested in First Nations practices and communities located close to her town of Smithers, B.C. She has encouraged the registration of more First Nations cultural activities for Culture Days and, in the spirit of learning more about Witsuwit'en culture, Lori put together a video blog and interview with hereditary chief Na'moks of the Witsuwit'en First Nation.
Chief Na'moks discusses the importance of territory, language and the feast system. Images are from the Wetzink'wa (Bulkley) River and from a headstone drag that precludes the headstone feast in Cas Yikh (Moricetown). All video and images by Lori Knorr.
