Last weekend I got to hang out at Gateway Festival in Bengough, SK, listening to great music while encouraging people to eavesdrop in the name of art and culture. The following are a couple of eavesdrop poems composed exclusively of things people overheard at the festival. Enjoy!
Welcome to Canada
got the batteries for your shirt?
you have a watch
a plastic bag
a Victorian doll
Soon you’ll be mourning your innocent days
You gotta watch out for Hepatitis with those guys from Moose Jaw
Where’s a marker?; you look like you need a number on your back
Number 1 or Number 2?What’s time to a hog?
What’s religion to a drowned ground hog?
You can’t have that
Remember?Are you challenging me?
I don’t think you can understand
lonely in my saddle
I’ve got a story about your husband
Are you ready? Ready?
I don’t know how he does it
the only one who makes my heart go wiggy-wiggy
It’s so lonely in my saddle since my horse died
I don’t think you can understand these feelings I have
The human body was made to procreate
it went in
no it didn’t
It’s less intrusive
It was the most romantic thing
Will you massage away my shame?
