I would like to be part of culture days activities. I have a location, project and materials that i can offer free of charge. There are also other artistic activities going on where i teach and have my studio and i believe that these other artists / craftspeople would like to be a part of this too. We are instructors hired by the Toronto District School Board. We would like to colloborate in this event.

Thanks for your great offer of location and materials to other artists. We want to encourage this kind of partnering and sharing as part of the Culture Days movement. Part of my role as Ontario Arts Council’s Culture Days Animator / Coordinator is to facilitate the networking between Ontario artists, groups, municipalities, etc.
Shortly, we will be creating a survey on the culturedays.ca site to help us identify people who have venues or other things to offer and help us match them up with artists and arts groups. But in the meantime, can you email or call me with further details about where you are located and what you had in mind at on@culturedays.ca or give me a call at(647) 258-5077?

STUDIO ILEKROM: from 6 to 60
“I don't know? I really can't do it. Do you really think I can make a sterling silver ring?”
CULTURE DAYS 2010 did the trick!
9 senior citizens came to my jewellery studio with some hesitation.
I've been working with people for the past 40 years and knew how to put them at ease.
They'd never before seen a finger measured over the knuckle with a strip of paper. It made sense.
Working first of all with a strip of jeweller's bronze reduced the apprehension.
They measured, sawed off the excess, circled the strip, soldered it with a hot flame and then rounded it.
Demos along the way helped them to gain confidence.
“Use this tapered ring mandrel to make the ring absolutely round using a leather mallet.
No scratches allowed so use the emery paper, and the polishing machine.
The ring MUST fit YOUR finger.”
It's lunchtime, wear your “learning” ring while we eat.”

Three hours after lunch, completed band rings in sterling silver
accompanied by oohs and aahs were ready to wear.
The surprise was that to recognize and honour Culture Days 2010, the workshop fee was returned.
Happy, proud and reallizing creativity DOES exist in each and every one of us no matter at what age
They will never forget this day!

THANK YOU, Canada for initiating this IMPORTANT event: CULTURE DAYS 2011!
    Let's do it again!

  8. Jeremy says:
    I have just
registered and added an activity for 2011 on the web site, or I think I have,
but I had some problems using the web site.  After saving my draft of the
activity description and clicking “Next” nothing happens.  Also, I am not sure I
have entered the times in the correct format and there doesn't seem to be any
guidance on this.  I entered: YYYY-MM-DD and then hours and minutes in a 24 hr
format.  Was this right?  Third, no google map is appearing, so I don't know if
the address has been entered correctly. Fourth, how do I change the status from “draft” to “published”?
  9. Reuben Finley says:
    Hi Jeremy,

Thanks for registering a Culture Days activity again this year – your dance open house is indeed registered, although certain mandatory details still need to be added in order for it to be posted to the activities schedule.

I understand that you have been experiencing difficulties with the website registration system and would like to determine what they are caused by. In order to ensure that the process is failproof and to assist you in getting your registation completed, allow me to contact you this week at the e-mail address and number in our records, or feel free to call me at the number below.

Once again, thank you for your ongoing support of Culture Days.
